KATU YVYV: Maxine Dexter, Democratic candidate for Oregon's Third Congressional District

Published: June 16th, 2024

PORTLAND, Ore. (KATU) — The presidential election is less than five months away.

While all eyes will be on that race, there's another contest to watch out for.

In Congress, Republicans hold a narrow majority, and the balance of power will be up for grabs in 2025.

We want you to know the Oregon and southwest Washington congressional candidates who will be on the November ballot.

We're inviting Oregon and southwest Washington primary winners to join us, in the coming weeks, so you can hear from them directly.

This morning, we're going to focus on Oregon Congressional District Three.

The seat is currently held by Earl Blumenauer who announced last year he was not running for re-election.

The district includes Hood River and portions of Multnomah and Clackamas counties.

Due to the number of registered Democrats in that district, that party's candidate has a huge advantage in November.

Maxine Dexter joins Steve Dunn in today’s edition of Your Voice, Your Vote.
